Mechanisms underlying training-induced cognitive change

چکیده

The prospect of enhancing cognition through behavioural training interventions, for example, the repetitive practice cognitive tasks or metacognitive strategy instruction, has seen a surge in popularity over past 20 years. Although overwhelming evidence demonstrates that such interventions increase performance trained tasks, controversy remains whether these benefits transfer to other and abilities beyond context. In this Review, we provide an overview effectiveness induce untrained with particular focus on theoretical mechanisms have been proposed underlie effects. We highlight there is relatively little enhances capacity, is, overall resources available individual. By contrast, substantial supports training-induced improvements efficiency, optimized within existing capacity limits. conclude shifting research towards identifying underlying gains efficiency offers fruitful avenue developing effective interventions. However, advance our understanding human plasticity must strive develop refine theories generate testable hypotheses. Mechanisms of white matter change induced by meditation training

Training can induce changes in specific brain networks and changes in brain state. In both cases it has been found that the efficiency of white matter as measured by diffusion tensor imaging is increased, often after only a few hours of training. In this paper we consider a plausible molecular mechanism for how state change produced by meditation might lead to white matter change. According to ...

Mechanisms Underlying Leptin- induced Cardioprotection

Introduction Activation of the Reperfusion Injury SalvageKinase (RISK) pathway, which incorporates phosphatidyli-nositol-3-OH kinase (PI3K)-Akt/protein kinase B (PKB) andp44/42 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), underliesprotection against ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury. Thetemporal nature of the activation of these RISK pathwaycomponents during reperfusion ...

Cognitive Mechanisms Underlying Virtual Reality Exposure

Many studies have assessed virtual reality exposures efficacy, but very few examined its treatment processes. The addition of objective measures of arousal and information processing mechanisms would be a valuable contribution in order to provide a more complete and detailed picture. The goal of this study was to better document the cognitive mechanisms associated with therapeutic change after ...
